State secretary Dr. Beatrix Tappeser
Is a biologist and studied at the University of Bonn.
She specialized on plant Physiology (Diploma) and molecular biology (Ph D)As a postdoc she worked at the Institute for Biochemistry and Molecular biology at the University of Berlin.
Starting 1985 she was appointed as a Scientific Advisor by the Green Party to the Enquete Commission „Chances and Risks of Genetic Engineering“ of the German Parliament writing together with other scientists a minority report on the developments of Genetic Engineering in the different application fields..
Starting 1987 she worked at the Institute for Applied Ecology in Freiburg as a Head of department „Biodiversity, Nutrition and Agriculture“
In 2004 she joined the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation of Germany as a Head of Division „Environmental Risk Assessment and GMOs.
Since January 2014 she is state secretary at the Ministry for the Environment, Climate Change, Agriculture and Consumer Protection of the State Hessen.
